My career in the travel industry started out as a promise to my mother 30 years ago. She told me get a job so you can see the world, so I figured I would go to school to become a travel agent. I attended Academy Pacific where I completed my travel education and when I graduated I got a job working with a travel agency that a very close friend of the family owned. She taught me more there than I learned in all the time I was in school. HANDS ON IS BEST. I went on to work for her for many years and then together we joined the Plaza Travel family. I left to start a family of my own and then continued to dip my feet in the travel business. I worked for several different companies including Princess cruises for almost 5 years. I also worked at a cruise-only agency for several years. I decided to be closer to home and worked at a small agency in my home town. I did that for a few years but I just felt something was missing so I took a job at another agency further from working with outside agents, but it just didn't feel like it was where I needed to be. One day I got a call from Steve Orens, President of Plaza Travel, offering me a position in his entertainment division. I was excited and nervous as it was something I had never done before. To make a long story short, I am back with my Plaza Travel family GOING ON 3 YEARS NOW after being gone for over 15 years. I am where I belong and work with a great bunch of people. Our entertainment department is one of the best group of ladies I have ever worked with. I get to work on some amazing shows. THIS IS WHERE I WILL BE UNTIL I RETIRE!!!!!!

I am thankful to wake up every day and do what I love! More than two decades in the travel industry and I am just as passionate about travel and helping others. Having grown up in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, an amazing waterfront city, I had a natural affinity for all things water related. It was a natural fit for me to focus my business on what I love; beautiful luxurious destinations on or near the water where people can spend quality down time enjoying their family and friends. I have a very outgoing and fun personality, but what sets me apart from other Travel Concierge Services is my focus on my customers. While on my first cruise, it hit me. It wasn’t necessarily the ship, the ports or the beautiful resort that made my vacation great, it was how I felt when I was on vacation. Having done the research and planning in advance I felt relieved, relaxed and stress free. I also felt cared for by the cruise staff and connected with my husband. I finally got it! The research and learning was necessary but finding out what was important to the client was top priority. Once I found out what the clients specific interests, likes, dislikes, wants and needs were I could match them to the perfect destination Because I am able to ask questions and listen to my clients, unlike an internet travel booking site, I am able to get to the heart of what my client wants. I love getting to know my clients. I cultivate trust with my clients by staying in contact with them and keeping the lines of communication open as a running dialogue until all the pieces and parts of the trip are decided. My clients refer me to their family, friends and colleagues because they know me, they like me, and they trust me. My Journey with Plaza Travel began on March 8th 2001. I was hired as a Receptionist and from that time the Orens family has allowed me to learn and grow. I was moved to an Administrative Position in 2004. I assisted with admin duties, ranging from ordering Office Supplies to helping agents with busy work, so they could focus on Sales. I read anything I could get my hands on to increased my knowledge of the Travel Industry and took many on-line tutorials. I also got the benefit of learning from some of the best agents in the travel industry. Asking questions of my agents to gain the knowledge needed to take on further challenges. I was taught the fine art of the ADM and started to learn how to read Commission Contracts. I was Cross trained on the ARC report to cover the Accounting Department when needed. When a position became available, I was promoted to the Accounting Department in 2010. The promotion put me in charge of running the ARC report for Plaza Travel. I am Certified thru the Airline Reporting Corporation as an ARC Specialist. Plaza Travel has grown so much since my first day back in 2001. The Orens Family has continued to challenge me and offer new opportunities for growth. I could not imagine working for another company or leaving the Plaza Travel Family. In my personal time I enjoy camping, hiking, going to concerts and watching football.

“Let Me Tell You Where to Go.” I have been a travel consultant for 41 years. In that time, I’ve become more than just an agent to my clients. I’m their partner, helping them not only plan the perfect trip but also helping them save money, putting their interests first, and taking care of all those little details that can overwhelm. After owning my own small agency, I moved to Plaza Travel in 1995 and made a name for myself specializing in customized group bookings for corporate meetings, using my experience in Sales and Catering at Holiday Inn to coordinate the various demands of those accounts. Along the way, I developed expertise in entertainment travel and cutting-edge agency technology. I was born in Bogota, Colombia, but have lived in the U.S. since age 1. I have two amazing sons that are doing their General Surgical Residency, one in Stanford, and one in University of South Florida. I currently serve on the board of SOCAL ASTA as Vice President, and previously as Treasurer. I had the honor of serving two terms as Director at Large for ASTA National.
