Begin your 10-day Indonesia vacation in Ubud. Immerse yourself in Bali’s cultural capital, embarking on a discovery of the 17th-century Pura Taman Ayun Temple, renowned for its stunning traditional Balinese architecture, pristine gardens, and serene lotus ponds. Discover over 1,260 long-tailed macaques and enchanting temple complexes within the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Head to the Tanah Lot temple off Bali’s southwest coast and marvel at the ionic sacred Hindu temple perched on a large, rocky island shaped by years of crashing waves from the sea.

Ascend through volcanic ash and the cool, early-morning air to the peak of Mount Batur, where you'll feel the windswept terrain change beneath your feet. Enjoy breakfast at the peak, overlooking Mount Abang and Mount Agung. Marvel at the incredible views of the shimmering teal water of Lake Batur as you descend into relaxing natural hot springs.

Explore the ancient history along Bali’s eastern coast. Climb the steps of the Pura Kehen Temple to the massive sacred banyan tree dedicated to the worship of Shiva and a stone-carved lotus throne dedicated to the Hindu Trinity: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Visit the Tenganan Village, an original Balinese village inhabited by the Bali Aga, Bali’s indigenous people, and the only village weaving the beautiful Geringsing cloths today.

Explore the unique limestone Batu Cremin Cave in Labuan Bajo before departing on your speedboat trip across the tropical blue Flores Sea en route to the mystical Komodo Island. Search for the awe-inspiring Komodo dragons, wild buffalo, deer, pigs, cockatoos, and more before arriving at the remarkable Pink Beach, where you’ll walk from the vibrant pink sand into the warm azure blue sea. Return to Bali for a pleasant drive through the hills of Bali’s southern peninsula, visiting the cliffside Uluwatu Temple and indulging in fresh seafood at Jimbaran and Sanur Beach.

Sanur

Sanur

Sanur occupies a happy medium between other Bali beach towns—it's not as frantic as Kuta, and it's not as expensive (or insulated) as Nusa Dua. The white-sand beach, which is lined with outrigger canoes, fronts spacious hotel compounds.

The offshore reef makes the water calm for snorkeling, although the reef itself isn't all that spectacular. Rental shops lease sailboards, surfboards and paddleboards. There are a number of good shops and restaurants along Jalan Danau Tamblingan and Jalan Poso.

As with most places in Bali, day trips can be organized to visit nearby temples and craft villages. It is located 4 mi/6 km east of Denpasar.

Destination Guide
Denpasar

Denpasar

Denpasar has various attraction but is best know for it's white sandy beaches and relaxing atmosphere. Some of the most famous surfing beaches are Kuta beach and Legion Beach, while Sanur beach has more tranquil waters and is excellent for sunbathing.  In the Denpasar area, there are all kind of beautiful Balinese handicrafts available in local shops. These include artwork, pottery, textiles, and silver. Also popular with visitors is the jewelry district in Celuk where rows of silversmiths' and goldsmiths' shops sell jewelry at great prices.

Ubud

Ubud

Hidden among the rice paddies, foothills, and steep ravines is Ubud, the cultural center of Bali renowned for its arts, dance and music. The town was an important source for medicinal herbs and plants wherein Balinese the word 'ubad' means medicine. It was a Javanese priest in the 8th century who discovered Ubud while meditating between two crossing rivers. Here, he discovered the Gunung Lebah Temple on the valley floor which today, remains a pilgrim destination. Tranquil, visitors can find serenity in nature and  inspiration in its ancient temples and palaces. Make friends at the Ubud Monkey Forest, but hold on to your belongings. Meditate at Anand Ashram or hike through the rice paddies.
