This 13-day Southeast Asian vacation takes you to Hong Kong before you explore Chiang Mai and Bangkok in Thailand and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It features first-class accommodation and private tours.

Begin your trip to Southeast Asia in Hong Kong, the city state that is among the world’s most popular foodie and cultural destinations. Enjoy some of the city’s quintessential experiences on a tour of Hong Kong Island. Take the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbor, ride the Peak Tram up the mountain for incredible views, and pass through Aberdeen and Repulse Bay. Cap the day off with a night harbor experience on a Chinese junk and watch a light show from the water. Another day, ride the ferry to Lantau Island to experience Hong Kong’s quieter side. Spot the world’s largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue and enjoy a vegetarian lunch at Po Lin Monastery, Hong Kong’s center of Buddhism. Then continue to Ngong Ping Village before riding the cable car back to Tung Chung.

Fly to Chiang Mai to continue your Asian vacation. This quiet northern city captures the cultural heart of Thailand. A city tour showcases some city highlights, including notable temples and cultural hubs, such as the silver making district. That night, head to a local temple to light incense and candles among the monks and dine at 137 Pillars House, one of the city’s top restaurants. Head on a day trip to nearby Doi Inthanon National Park and meet with Karen hilltribe members amidst the gorgeous mountain environment. Listen to gibbons singing, spot exotic birds in the tree canopy, and visit natural landmarks, such as the 70m drop waterfall of Wachiratharn.

Continue your Thai vacation south to Bangkok, the Thai capital and one of the most popular cities in the world. Bangkok is a foodie paradise and you’ll get to the heart of the city’s food scene with an evening tuk tuk tour. Stop off at local favorites and hidden gems, try pad thai and other famous Thai dishes, and end the evening with a drink at a secret bar along the Chao Phraya River with views of Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn. The next day, you’ll visit some of the city’s most beloved sites, from Wat Pho, home to the Reclining Buddha, to the Grand Palace, home of the Royal Family, to Wat Trimitir on the edge of Chinatown and along the city’s canals on a long-tail boat. You’ll have another day at leisure in Bangkok.

Fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia and explore the fabled temples of Angkor, some of the world’s greatest historical treasures. These ruins of the Khmer Empire are arguably the greatest temples in Southeast Asia. You’ll visit a selection of the temples, including the Bayon of Angkor Thom, with its over 200 bas-reliefs of the faces of gods and kings, and Ta Prohm, a hidden temple that was swallowed by the jungle. You’ll end your trip with a morning visit to the masterwork of Angkor Wat, the world’s largest temple complex and the crowning achievement of the Khmer Empire.

At the end of your tour, you’ll connect to the airport in Siem Reap for onward travels.

Siem Reap

Siem Reap

The small provincial capital of Siem Reap stretches along the Siem Reap river – surrounded by rice paddies and serving as the gateway to centuries-old temple ruins of the Khmer Empire. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Angkor Archaeological Park contains numerous temple ruins including Bayon, Banteay Srey and legendary Angkor Wat. Those visiting the site stay in Siem Reap. Experience some local flavor, attend a dance performance, or shop in some local craft shops. Angkor Wat’s artistic and archaeological significance rivals the Pyramids in Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru and the Taj Mahal in India. Unspoiled by over-development, many areas of the area are possible to explore away from crowds. Its three-tiered massive pyramid is crowned by five beehive-like towers on the ground. It is the centerpiece of any visit to temples in Angkor. This amazing structure is thought to be dedicated to the Hindu god, Vishnu.
